General Information . . .

The essay contest is to be focused on the general subject of “Peace.” We recognize that the simple word, “Peace,” carries with it many meanings, applications, thoughts and values. We also recognize that “Peace” must be learned, practiced, envisioned, pursued, and renewed if the human family and environs are to experience “Peace.”

Contestant Eligibility: All eleventh and twelfth grade students who are citizens of and living in the United States.

Prize: $2,000.00 The prize will be sent to the college after notification by that college that the contestant has registered and enrolled. The winner should notify the Financial Aid office and ask them to cooperate with this requirement. The funds are for scholarships only.

Rules:

  • Essay shall not exceed 750 words
  • Essay must be typed, double-spaced on 8 x 11 white paper, or in proper essay format if you are emailing in
  • You name, home address, phone number and name of your high school must be in the upper right hand corner of each page of your essay
  • Essay must be original writing of the person submitting it

Deadline and notification: All essays must be received by no later than April 15 of the current year. You cannot fax your essay. However, you can email your essay. Send to: essays@generationsforpeace.org. Winners will be notified in early June. The top 5 finalists will also be notified. Essays are not returned.
