HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein

HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan is deeply committed to peace building and development, complementing the efforts of his brother His Majesty King Abdullah II as they both continue the legacy of their father, the Late King Hussein, in the long-standing peace building tradition of the Jordanian Royal Family.

Within Jordan, HRH Prince Feisal heads a number of important social and economic development initiatives. He is Chairman of the Royal Water Commission overseeing water management strategy for the country to the year 2022. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Abdullah II Centre of Excellence, HRH Prince Feisal works on the promotion of a culture of excellence and international competitiveness in all sectors. In his role as Chairman of the Royal Commission of the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City, HRH Prince Feisal heads the largest planned urban project in the history of Jordan, which will become home to 500,000 people by the time it is completed in 2020.

Formerly the Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force, HRH Prince Feisal’s present military responsibilities include roles as Lieutenant General and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Head of the Higher Organisational Committee for the biannual Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX). HRH Prince Feisal is also founder of Royal Falcon (previously JIAC), and of Jordan International Air Cargo.

Passionate about peace building and conflict transformation, and recognising the potential of sport for individual and community change, HRH Prince Feisal is an increasingly prominent global figure in the field of sport for sustainable peace and development.

HRH Prince Feisal’s work as Founder and Chairman of Generations For Peace, the international non-governmental peace through sport organisation, and as President of Jordan Olympic Committee and Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), demonstrates his visionary approach and thought-leadership in this field.

Based in Amman, Generations For Peace has developed under the leadership of HRH a sport for peace and development certification programme and cascading approach that has now reached 46 countries and territories in Africa, Asia, and Europe. In 2010, HRH Prince Feisal founded the Generations For Peace Institute, the world’s first Institute dedicated to supporting academic partnerships and research to further global understanding of sport’s power to unite and inspire change, sustainable peace and development.

In addition to Generations For Peace, as a member of the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Chairman of the OCA’s Peace Through Sport Committee, HRH is also active in fostering the use of sport for peace and development across the diverse Asian continent.

A leading advocate for gender equity and empowerment of girls and women in Jordan and the Middle East, HRH Prince Feisal chairs the OCA’s Women & Sport Commission, and sits on the IOC’s Women & Sport Commission.

As a member of the IOC’s newly established Entourage Commission, HRH also works to improve athletes welfare at all levels both on and off the sports field.

An avid supporter of motor sport, in his role as Chairman of Jordan Motorsport HRH Prince Feisal achieved inclusion of Jordan rally circuits onto the calendar of the FIA’s World Rally Championships.

HRH Prince Feisal has been honoured to receive various awards and distinctions, including among others the Order of Military Merit of the First Class, Jordan; the Grand Cordone of the Order of Al Istiklal, Jordan; the Legion of Merit, USA; the Legion of Honour, France; and the Order of the Sultan Qaboos, Oman.

Educated at Brown University (USA), where he gained a BSc in Electronic Engineering, specialising in communications, HRH Prince Feisal then gained a Masters in Management from London Business School. He has been a keen athlete for many years with experience in football, volleyball, tennis, skiing, wrestling, taekwondo, karate and motor racing.
